About

Fueled by passion and driven to explore, I blend my love for creative arts and film making with my hopeless addiction to the outdoors. Whether in the mountains or on the beach, in the forest or on the river – I am at home among the elements that make up the world beyond walls. With my feet as my vehicle and camera in hand, I strive to create and capture unique experiences while enjoying the best that life has to offer.

My name is Ross Reid, and I hope you enjoy my work.

Biography

Born and raised on the western slopes of the Cascade Mountains, I was introduced to the outdoors at a young age. The summer months were spent exploring local forests and the Puget Sound, while I was playing in the snow every chance I had during the winter.

I developed a strong appreciation for film and video through years of playing with the family VHS Camcorder, using toys and my little brothers as the stars of my films. This passion grew over time and gradually led me to film school at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. During my time there, I was able to gather and perfect my skills as a film maker while still fueling my love for the mountains and snow.

Today, when I’m not behind the lens of a camera or a computer screen, I try to spend as much time enjoying the outdoors as possible. Everything from skiing to surfing to hiking and fishing; if there aren’t any walls involved, I’ll be there.

Skills and Equipment

I’m a hard working and dedicated individual with a drive to succeed at whatever I put my mind to. Familiar with working within tight deadlines, I have proven my ability to work efficiently under pressure to complete the task at hand while maintaining the highest possible quality of work. However, I am still very easy going and approachable, open to any and all kinds of criticism, critique and discussion.

Camera Gear

I currently operate with a Panasonic HPX 170 and DMC-GH2, both of which are great cameras for different types of shots and projects.  Equipped with various lenses, tripods, dollies, cranes, and other accessories, I’m easily capable of staging many different camera movements and shots in order to find the one that fits the action best.  A fair amount of my gear can be broken down and easily transported in a backpack, sled or roller bag so that I can travel wherever I may need to without being held back by my equipment.

Software

Through my years operating, I have gained extensive knowledge of the following programs:
Final Cut Pro
DVD Studio Pro
Compressor
Cinema Tools
Adobe After Effects
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Dreamweaver
